Hann hefur frumkvöðlareynslu og margháttaða reynslu af samstarfi við matvælaiðnaðinn og stjórn rannsókna- og þróunarstarfs, bæði á Íslandi og á Norðurlöndum og auk þess reynslu af þróun viðskipta og sjálfbærni og af lífvísindum.

Erla Skúladóttir stjórnarmaður er sérfræðingur í hugverkarétti og stjórnarformaður íslenska nýsköpunarfyrirtækisins Lauf forks hf. Hún hefur undanfarin ár starfað sem lögmaður en var áður sérfræðingur á nýsköpunarskrifstofu iðnaðarráðuneytisins. Erla er stundakennari í hugverkarétti á sviði iðnaðar við lagadeild Háskóla Íslands.
